I went and visited Mildenhall Speedway with Adam . It was a great meeting but when walking around the town centre I noticed that the stone rifle held by the soldier in the war memorial looked wrong . I collect military rifles though my collection is in the USA where I have the right to keep and bear arms ( which constitutionally apparently shall no be infringed ) On return I googled Lee Enfield s and compared them to the stone rifle which I had photographed . I was right - the muzzle end of the rifle was upside-down compared to the but end . The front sight is under the rifle and the bayonet lug is on top Wrong Wrong Wrong ! It appears to have a join and my guess is that at some time in the past it was broken and mended . Shockingly to me whoever did it put it back on upside-down .
