I am a regular attender of the CWSA - the local gun club . Whidbey Island has three gun clubs with their own ranges and facilities . Not bad for a population of about 60,000 . This particular day in May 2016 there were seven shooters other than me all of whom are very capable as you can see from this film . This " falling Plate " rifle competition is of a Man Vs Man format where on the beep you bring your loaded rifle up from the ready position and have to shoot down five white 6 " disks followed by a yellow 4" one . To win one of the three rounds you have to do so before the " man " you are competing against does so . The average time to take the six targets was 3.6 seconds . The days winner is the shooter who wins the most individual points Today it was Al Lindell and his best time was 2.74 seconds - faster than 2 plates a second even though you start with the rifle at the ready and therefore not on target .
