People think of James bond as competent
with firearms . People may therefore copy his actions from this
poster . From the poster it is clearly true that Daniel Craig is
untrained and potentially very unsafe with firearms .
Firstly the gun he holds is not pointed
in a safe direction
Secondly he is not even looking where
it is pointed to determine if he is willing to destroy its target or
if other things are around it that would make such a shot unwise .
Thirdly his finger is curled around the
trigger - another serious safety infringement .
Lastly the hammer of the gun is drawn
back into the single action position so the trigger pull is likely to
be small ( and from his novels a light pull also) . If the hammer was
forward this would not be the case .
I believe that such an image may lead
to accidental discharges injury or even deaths if untrained people
take this example and miss handle deadly weapons in this manner . I
therefore request that MGM are informed and asked to show correct gun
handling in an updated poster and if they do not wish to change the
image they should be advised that they may be held liable for any
accidents that occur from people copying such unsafe gun handling .
Alternately they should include the standard disclaimer mentioning
actors etc and warning people not to copy such things . .Frankly I
am surprised that with their budget MGM did not consider sending
Daniel Craig to a range to receive an hour of basic training .
Daniel Craig breaks all 4 rules in this one pose !
From wikepediahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_safety
Jeff Cooper's Four Rules:[6]
All guns are always loaded.
Never let the muzzle cover
anything you are not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger off the
trigger until your sights are on the target.
Be sure of your target and what
is beyond it.
UPDATE
I got a message back stating that the ASA does not regulate " point of sale " adverts so they were going to bin my request . They also seemed concerned as to what sex ( male, female, transgender or prefer not to say ) I hate this new tend for diversity monitoring and fear it may lead to more state discrimination !
